The Biology educators Association of New Zealand (BEANZ) has supported NZIBO since our inception. It is through teachers that students get to know about NZIBO and without the support of teachers we would not be able to provide this wonderful opportunity to New Zealand students.

The School of Natural and Computational  Sciences, based on Massey's Albany, Auckland campus, generates, disseminates and preserves scientific knowledge of the highest quality. They offer an education that combines rigorous academic study and the excitement of discovery with the support and intellectual stimulation of a diverse community in a unique interdisciplinary atmosphere. For many years, Massey University's campus in Albany has co-hosted the annual Team Selection and Training camp. Providing access to modern laboratories, facilitating challenging practical tasks and engaging our learners in current research contexts, Massey has become an invaluable partner.

Royal Society Te Apārangi provides invaluable support, helping to increase participation of our talented students in the NZIBO programme by assisting with our outreach to schools via their email newsletter and email contact lists for biology educators in New Zealand. The Society also administers the Talented School Students Travel Award which is the major source of funds for our students representing NZ at the international competition. This award has been established to support Yr9 – Yr13 school students, providing funds to help cover the direct travel costs to nationally recognised science and technology based events outside New Zealand.

 

 

 

The University of Auckland’s Faculty of  Medical and Health Sciences is committed to improving the health of our local, national and global communities through excellence in teaching, research, service and engagement. They have been a strong partner of the NZIBO programme, co-hosting the annual Team Selection and Training Camp; providing access to modern biomedical laboratory equipment, connecting our students to current research contexts, and mentoring our teams ahead of their International Biology Olympiad competitions.


The University of Auckland’s Faculty of Science is New Zealand’s leading and largest science faculty with 10 diverse schools and departments. It offers a vast selection of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has 25 undergraduate majors and over 35 postgraduate subjects to choose from. The Faculty of Science is delighted to support the New Zealand International Biology Olympiad and help foster interest, participation and excellence in the next generation of biologists. Ongoing partnership with the Leigh Marine Science facilities have provided unique hands-on learning opportunities for NZIBO students to explore conservation and ecology contexts in New Zealand.

 

The University of Otago focuses on excellence in biological research - human biology through the medical sciences, as well as plant and animal biology: It has programmes of research and teaching in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Botany, Ecology, Genetics, Human Nutrition, Marine Science, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Physical Education, Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, Wildlife Management and Zoology. The University of Otago is delighted to support the Olympiad as it develops excellence in the study of biology. The University of Otago has generously supported NZIBO in many ways, including provisions to support our summer tutorial program and providing graduate student mentors to assist in the delivery of the annual Selection and Training Camp.
